Dear Management,
I’ve decided I’m ready to adopt a dog from the shelter, but I’m overwhelmed by the choices. Every time I visit, I see so many dogs that need homes and I don’t know how to choose. Should I pick the most energetic one? The saddest one? The one that reminds me of a dog I had as a kid? I want to make the right choice but I’m terrified I’ll pick wrong and it won’t work out. How do I know which dog is meant for me?

Dear Paralyzed,
Listen, doll. I’ve been the dog in that kennel, watching people walk by, wondering what they’re looking for and whether I have it. I never did seem to have it. But I got lucky, and ended up at a rescue instead of the big sleep. And that is always a route too, but you said shelter so I will answer that one specifically.
