Boxer Rescue Fundraising
It's a mini extravaganza to close out February
Whew! It has been a busy month for me. I am plugging away on custom versions of my memory journal Boxer Soul. They have sold out in my shop and the last few copies I have at home will be saved for boxer rescue fundraising. Thank you everyone that grabbed a copy and I appreciate the reviews coming in on Amazon.
Keaton aka Management has been settling in fabulously. She is still getting the hang of a few things like potty outdoors and walking on a leash. But otherwise she is thick as thieves with the Intern aka my son. You can hear from her next week. She didn’t want to distract from our current project, a fundraiser for Rocky…
This is Rocky. We found his story through WI Boxer Rescue. We are raising money for currently on our Facebook page.
Rocky was seized by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department in December, 2025 and taken to the Lincoln County Humane Society. He wasn’t doing well at the shelter and he had some lumps that need to be looked at so we pulled him. On January 14, 2026 he was neutered and the two lumps were removed. One was a cyst but the other was a mast cell tumor. The pathology showed it was a load grade tumor (thank goodness), however the surgical site opened (it was large and not enough skin to stay closed) and he now has an open wound. Plus, Rocky is positive for anaplasmosis, a tick disease and his ear canals are narrowed and thick, probably due to numerous untreated ear infections.
So Rocky racked up some medical bills pretty fast. And while he is doing better now and healing up for his future forever home, I decided to have a little mini fundraiser for him.
We have a small auction and raffle running on our page. I have put up a custom hardcover Boxer Soul in the auction and a one of kind XOXO Boxer for the raffle.
And we have some wonderful contributions from other artists as well, like South Georgia Clay and Grizzly Clan Ceramics. You can find the auction album here. The fundraiser ends March 7th and I will announce the winner of the raffle the following day. As with all my fundraisers, all money raised will go back to WI Boxer Rescue to help with Rocky’s medical expenses.
In other news, Forever Dog is now available on Amazon in hardcover and paperback. It is the all dog breed version of my memory journal. Filled with thoughtful prompts to capture the unique bond between dogs and their people, it is perfect for journaling, memory-keeping, sketching, or simply celebrating the dog-shaped space in your heart that nothing else can fill.
After the fundraiser for Rocky ends and I get through all the pending customs, I will be taking a little break to focus on my son. We are doing really well right now with homeschool. Making some big strides socially and with his speech therapy. He absolutely loves having a dog that plays with him and follows him around the house. We are all starting to settle into a nice family routine together so I want to take a moment to enjoy that/relax/be present. I feel like just the other day my son was a baby sleeping on my chest. Now he is approaching his 7th birthday!
On the horizon is the release of Dear Management: Life Advice from a Senior Rescue dog, as narrated by my rescue senior Betsey (due end of April). Along with a re-release/updated version of my graphic novel Smoosh Face.
In the meantime, Keaton’s Discoveries will continue, with the next drop coming the week of March 10th. As always, thank you for following along on our journey.
